Hydraform Technology
Hydraform Technology, one of the most popular alternative building technologies in Africa, has been revolutionizing construction for over 30 years.
Originating in South Africa, this innovative technology utilizes Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB), also known as Hydraform Interlocking Stabilized Soil Blocks (ISSB), which are widely used in countries around the globe.
Hydraform Interlocking Stabilized Soil Blocks are walling blocks made from a mix of compressed soil and cement.
Using a diesel-operated pressing machine, these blocks are compressed to a pressure of 20 to 40 kg/cm², making them as hard and water-resistant as stone.
The interlocking design of these blocks, which lock together on all four sides, allows for dry stacking, significantly reducing the need for mortar.
In fact, the use of mortar is reduced by 70%, being required only for the first course, ring beam, and the courses above the ring beam.
This eco-friendly and cost-effective technology is ideal for constructing a variety of structures, providing durability and aesthetic appeal.
